In the less than two weeks I’ve been riding in Westchester, I’ve been passed on the right three times by other riders.
All three happened on Route 100, which I guess is cycling’s Central Avenue.
One time involved a rider who I suppose wanted to avoid the rumble strips to our left. This morning two riders flew past me in Briarcliff Manor just south of Chappaqua Road.
All three cases involved experienced riders, judging but their bikes, gear, etc.
So, what’s up with that?
Here in the United States of America we pass on the left, and if we know what’s good for us, we let the rider we’re passing know we’re coming around. Like most riders, my mirror’s on the left side, so if you pass me on the right I can’t see you coming.
So don’t do it.
