The Westchester Putnam Bike Walk Alliance is seeking support for biking and walking access to the new Tappan Zee Bridge. Currently 600 signatures have been obtained but more support is sought. To sign the petition, please click here.
The Tappan Zee Bridge initiative is a key priority for the new group, as it becomes a voice in the community for creating a network of traffic-free multi-use trials and safer environment for cyclists and walkers on our roads.
The WPBWA seeks your volunteer support to establish bike/walk committees in every town in the lower Hudson Valley. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to organize a small advocacy group on biking and walking issues in your community.
They are also hosting a kick-off cocktail fundraiser on September 24th at the Briarcliff Manor home of Paul Lightfoot, CEO of BSG. Westchester author Ben Cheever (Center of the photo after running a 10k in Baghdad, Iraq.) will moderate a brief discussion with David Goodman, who writes about cycling on the City Room blog of the New York Times and yours truly. I’m honored to be part of such company and look forward to sharing a dialog on cycling and walking issues.
Hope to see you there.
